How it works

income = tokens × price at claim

gain = tokens × (sale price − claim price)

net = sale value − both taxes

Worked example

1,000 tokens claimed at $1.20 is $1,200 income; at 30% that is $360 owed even if you never sell. Sell later at $2.00 and the $800 gain adds $120 more, netting $1,520.

FAQ

I did not sell. Do I still owe tax?

In many jurisdictions yes, income tax on the claim-day value is due regardless. That surprise is exactly why this calculator exists.

What if the token dumps after I claim?

You can owe income tax on a value that no longer exists. Some sell a portion at claim to cover the liability.

Is this filing-ready?
